OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College women's soccer team extended their program record shutout streak to 11 consecutive matches with a 5-0 shutout victory over Neosho County Community College Saturday night at the JCCC Soccer Complex.
The Lady Cavaliers defense allowed just two shots which sophomore goalkeeper Maddox Fergus easily stopped. It is her fifth shutout of the season and 12th over her career.
Offensively sophomore forward Maya Wallace was JCCC's top performer, netting two goals to bring her season total to 12, fourth most in the conference, and her point total to 32, second-best in the KJCCC. Wallace' first goal came in the 15th minute off a free kick and proved to the be game winner. Her second goal, the fourth of the match, came from 25 yards out off a feed from freshman midfielder Brecken Hoy.
Hoy also found the back of the net just 37 seconds after Wallace's first goal to put the Lady Cavaliers up 2-0. Sophomore midfielder/defender Sydney Puetz provided the assist, her third on the season.
JCCC made 3-0 nothing when sophomore forward Jenna Knight scored off a corner kick feed from sophomore defender Karsen Koehler in the 33rd minute. It was Knight's fifth in 2024 and Koehler's eighth assist, which ties for the lead in the conference.
Leading 4-0 at the break, freshman defender Riggs Kuhn made it 5-0 in the final minute of the match with her fourth goal of the season. Sophomore defender Sophie Abbott picked up her third assists of the year.
Johnson County returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 9 against Allen Community College in Iola, Kan. They return home to host Hesston College on Saturday, October 12 at 7 p.m.
