Turner earns fifth  player of the week honor

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore forward David Turner has been selected the Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II Basketball Athlete of the Week for week 16. This is the second straight week he has been selected and fifth time this season, most of any player in the conference. 

Last weekend, Turner led the Cavaliers with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds in an 86-72 win over Labette in the Region VI Tournament semifinals. He also blocked five shots. With his five blocked shots, Turner became the new season record holder with 85, and upped his career total to 146, five shy of the career mark at JCCC. His 85 blocks rank second in the NJCAA. 

Turner is also on pace to post one of the top shooting percentages in team history. On Saturday, He made 6-of-9 shots, improving his season percentage to 65.2, eighth-best nationally and currently third in team history.
