OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore General Williams will continue his athletic and academic careers at Rockhurst University in Kansa City, Mo. The 6-3 guard from Kansas City, Mo, (Summit Christian Academy) signed a letter-of-intent to play for the Hawks and head men's basketball coach Drew Diener. Rockhurst finished 17-12 last year and 11-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

In his two seasons at Johnson County, Williams helped the Cavaliers to a school record 31 wins (31-5), a Region VI title and a runner-up finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in 2018-19. He also was part of back-to-back conference championships teams.

Last season, Williams was selected as a Kansas Jayhawk Division II All-Conference and All-Region VI second-team performer. He played in 36 games, 29 as a starter. He averaged 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. He led the team with 52 3-point baskets and shot a team-best 45.2 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, and 51.1 percent in conference play. His 52 treys were fifth-most in the conference, and his 3-point shooting percentage ranks at the fourth-best in a season at JCCC.

Williams scored in double figures 19 times, and had five games of 20 or more points, including a 30-point outburst in JCCC 96-69 opening round win over Pitt at nationals. His 30-point effort set a new team record for a game in national tournament play, breaking the previous best effort of 26 held by Kevin Fouse against Burlington in the 1976 national tournament.

As a freshman, Williams played in 31 games, 19 as a starter. He averaged 7.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists, and he scored in double figures 12 times.

For his career, Williams ranks fifth all-time at JCCC with a 3-point shooting percentage of 43.3. He also scored in double digits 31 times over his two seasons.

"General comes from a highly successful junior college program, is a local talent, and is a young man of high character," Diener said in a release issued by the Rockhurst sports information department. "Those three reasons, in addition to being a great athlete and proven 3-point shooter, make him an outstanding fit for our program."

"We feel that he is very capable of breaking down defenses off the bounce and has all the tools to be a great defensive player. We are thrilled to welcome General to our family."
