Cavaliers extend win streak to seven straight

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County men's basketball team, ranked sixth in NJCAA Division II, extended its win streak to seven straight Monday night with an 80-42 win over Baker University JV. 

Sophomore forward Jaland Whitehead posted his fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 20 points and 14 rebounds. He also blocked two shots.  Whitehead is averaging a double-double for the season with averages of 15.1 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. 

Coming off a 25-point, 11-rebound effort against Tabor JV, freshman forward Xavler Kahube followed with another key performance against Baker, finishing with 15 points and six rebounds. 

Sophomore guard Jaycson Bereal also was in double figures with 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He also had three boards, two assists and three blocks. 

Cobe Green led the Wildcats with 13 points.

The Cavaliers (7-1) host Metropolitan Community College Wednesday, February 24th at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, February 27, JCCC will open conference play when they host Kansas City Kansas Community College at 4 p.m.
