Jackson drops 35 in Johnson County victory

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – A day after being named the D-II Kansas Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week, Johnson County freshman guard Tymer Jackson began making a case to be a repeat of the honor on Wednesday night.  The Olathe North product poured in a career high 35 points to power the No. 8 Cavaliers to a 79-74 victory over Metropolitan at JCCC Gymnasium.

Jackson hit 9-of-15 shots, including 5-of-8 from beyond the 3-point line, and hit 12-of-14 free throws. He scored 20 of his 35 points in the first half to help JCCC build an eight point lead at 38-30.  Jackson currently leads the conference and is tied for 23rd in the NJCAA with a scoring average of 20.8 per game.

Jackson was the only Johnson County starter to finish double figures.  Freshman guard Seth Chargois and freshman forward Savonni Love came in off the bench to provide 14 and 10 respectively.  Chargois hit four field goals and was 6-of-9 at the line. He also had three rebounds and two steals.  Love was 4-of-6 shooting and hit both free throw attempts. He also grabbed four boards.

Johnson County (6-0) travels to Highland, Kan., this weekend to take on On Point Academy on Friday evening, followed by Park University JV on Saturday afternoon. They return home to host MidAmerica Nazarene University JV on Tuesday, November 23 at 7 p.m.
