Johnson County men’s basketball team ranked No. 3 in the nation

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College men's basketball team has moved up to No. 3 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II rankings.  Mott Community College is the No. 1 team in the nation. 

JCCC is off to 10-0 start to the 2021-22 season, which ranks as the fourth-best in team history. Three times the program posted starts of 12-0 

The Cavaliers were ranked fifth last week and started the season as the preseason No. 11 team.

Freshman guard Tymer Jackson (Olathe North/Olathe, Kan.) is the team's leading scorer averaging 18.7 points per game. Earlier this week he was named the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week. He was also the week two recipient. 

All-American forward Jaland Whithead (Grand Rapics, Mich.) is averaging of double-double of 11.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. He has recorded a double-double in six of the 10 games so far this season.

Johnson County's next four games are at home beginning tonight against Bethany College JV at 7:30 p.m., followed John Wood December 4 at 4 p.m., Tabor College JV December 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Link Year Prep December 8 at 7 p.m.
