OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its first poll of the regular season poll for women's soccer yesterday, and the Johnson County Community College came in at No. 18.
The Lady Cavaliers started the 2019 season with a pair of blowout victories over the Labor Day weekend. They opened the season with a 6-0 blanking of Iowa Central, and followed with an 8-1 victory over Jefferson. Through just two games, JCCC has already had two different players record hat tricks. Sophomore Kayla Brashear did it against Iowa Central, and freshman Audrey Peterson did it against Jefferson. Additionally, freshman Tio Krizogono has netted three goals and freshman Kayla Ambrose has scored twice.
Monroe College came in at No. 1, followed by Tyler, Eastern Florida State, Laramie County and Butler. JCCC is scheduled to host Butler Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. Prior to that matchup, Johnson County will travel to Iola, Kan., to open the conference season against Allen on Saturday, Sept. 7.
