OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the second time this season, the No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College women's soccer team pummeled Southeast Community College, winning 15-0 on Saturday in Beatrice, Neb. JCCC blasted the Bobcats 18-0 at home back on September 25. Their combined 33-0 goal differential is largest in a series sweep in program history, breaking the old mark of 22-0 against Neosho County in the 2000 season.
The Lady Cavaliers dominated the field of play, outshooting Southeast 52-to-zero. By not allowing a goal JCCC extended its school, conference and region record shutout string to 14 straight, just three shy of the NJCAA record.
Eighteen different roster players for Johnson County scored at least one point in the victory. Freshman midfielder Tatum Bresette, last week's KJCCC D-II Women's Soccer Player of the Week, netted a hat trick. She scored one goal in the first half and two more in the second.
Sophomore defender Carson Sloan doubled her season totals for goals and assists in the match, scoring the third goal and assisting on the 10th, 11th and 12th goals.
Midfielder Macy Malik, a recent new addition to the roster, scored her first two goals in a Johnson County uniform and sophomore forward Maya Wallace netted two goals including the game winner, her fourth on the year.
Sophomore defender Montana-Rose Currey and sophomore defender Sydney Puetz each finished with a goal scored and two assists, and freshman midfielder Lily Marshall was credited with two assists.
Scoring single goals were sophomore forward Jenna Knight, sophomore midfielder Brenley Cunningham, freshman defender Riggs Kuhn, freshman midfielder Brecken Hoy, and freshman defender Samantha Pond.
Single assists were credited to freshman forward Karsen Koehler, sophomore midfielder Lotta Meindl, freshman forward Jill Lenherr, freshman midfielder Carmen Duarte, sophomore defender Sophie Abbott and freshman defender Ashley Chaput.
Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Stoskopf earned the shutout victory, her eighth on the season, which has her tied for fourth most in the country. She also leads all NJCAA D-II goalkeeper with a goals against average of 0.12 and she is tied for the nation's lead by allowing just one goal all season.
The Lady Cavaliers (13-0-3/7-0-) will look to extend its shutout streak to 15 and complete an undefeated conference season when the host Highland Community College (4-10-1/2-3-2) in the final regular season match on Wednesday, October 23 at 6 p.m.
