OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson Count Community College women's soccer scored three second-half goals for a 3-nil victory over visiting Neosho County Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Sophomore forward Kayla Brashear got the Lady Cavaliers on the board in the 46th minute with her sixth goal of the season off a feed from sophomore midfielder Aina Blanch-Lopez. Ten minutes later the notched her seventh score of the year with freshman defender Tio Krizogono providing the assist.
Freshman forward Izzy Pierce provided an insurance goal, her first of the season, in the 78th minute. Blanch-Lopez was credited with her second assist in the game, and her sixth overall for the season.
Freshman keeper Isabelle Joseph earned her second start in the nets and stopped the only shot she faced. She played the 75 minutes before turning the job over to freshman Sydney Jones. In her two starts, Joseph is 2-0-0 and has not allowed a goal.
Johnson County travels to Texas this weekend for two games against top-ranked teams. The face No. 2-ranked Tyler Junior College on Friday, Sept. 27, and D-III No. 3-ranked Richland College on Sunday, Sept. 29. Tyler is 6-0-0 on the season, and Richland is 7-1-1. The Cavaliers return to conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 2, when they host Allen Community College at 2 p.m.
