OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 4-ranked Johnson County Community College women's soccer team (3-0-2) extended its current win streak to three straight with a 3-0 victory over No. 8-ranked Iowa Central Community College (0-2-2) on Wednesday afternoon at the JCCC Soccer Complex. JCCC has shutout its opponents in all three victories, outscoring them 18-to-0.
The Lady Cavaliers dominated the action on Wednesday afternoon, outshooting the Tritons 31-to-9 and 14-to-6 shots on goal.
Sophomore midfielder Maya Wallace played a foot in all three JCCC goals scored. She assisted on the first two goals and netted he final score. Wallace now has five goals and five assists on the season for 15 points. She currently leads the D-II Kansas Jayhawk Conference in points and is tied for the lead in goals scored.
Sophomore forward Karsen Koehler scored what proved to be the game winner in the 29th minute off Wallace's assist and then fed Wallace on her goal in the 56th minute.
JCCC second score came when sophomore forward Leticia Tessi took Wallace's pass and powered a shot past Iowa Central keeper Nevaeh Brown in the 50th minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Maddox Fergus stopped all six shots she faced to earn her second shutout of the season and ninth of her career, which ranks ninth all-time in team history.
Johnson County travels to Nebraska to take on Central Community College-Columbus on Saturday, September 7. Their next home match is the following Saturday, September 14 against Allen Community College at 5 p.m.
