OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 3-ranked Johnson County Community College women's soccer team dominated the action on Wednesday at Neosho County, outshooting Panthers 36-to-6 and 18-to-4 on goal, but only found the net twice for a 2-0 victory in the conference opener for the Lady Cavaliers.
Freshman defender Carson Sloan scored her first collegiate goal at the 23:45 mark of the first half off a feed from freshman midfielder Tatum Bresette, her second on the season.
Sophomore defender Sophie Abbott gave JCCC a 2-nil lead nine minutes later, her first on the season. Sophomore midfielder Maya Wallace, a two-time KJCCC D-II Player of the Week this year, picked up her team and league leading sixth assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Maddox Fergus stopped all four shots she faced to post her third shutout of the season and 10th of her career, moving her into a tie for the eighth spot on JCCC's career shutout list.
Johnson County (4-0-3/1-0-0) continues conference play on Saturday, September 14, when they host Allen Community College (4-2-0/2-0-0) at 5 p.m.
