A 5-9 outside hitter/middle hitter, Sophia Ewy (Pronounced A-VEE) is extremely athletic and gained so much knowledge and ball control in the spring season to fight for a 6-rotation position as an outside hitter this season … Competitive, positive, and vocal on the court and will be a big impact on our success this season … An excellent student ... Signed a letter-of-intent with the University of Saint Mary.

Played in 35 matches and 101 sets … Had 201 kills, fourth-most on the team … Hit at a .186 clip … Also had 90 digs and 44 blocks … Tallied a career-high 11 kills in a 3-0 win over Neosho County (8-25-23) … Opened the season with seven kills in a 3-0 win over Sauk Valley (8-18-23) … Followed with nine kills and eight digs in a sweep over No. 9 Muskegon (8-18-23) … A day later had five kills and six digs in. 3-1 win over No. 15 Gulf Coast State (8-19-23) … Tallied nine kills and five digs in a 3-1 win over MidAmerica Nazarene JV (10-4-23) … Credited nine kills in a 3-1 loss to No. 11 Kirkwood (10-7-23) … Followed with eight kills in a 3-1 loss to No. 4 Parkland (10-7-23) … Produced eight kills and a kill percentage of .615 in 3-0 win over Coffeyville in the semifinal of the District Playoffs (11-1-23) … Finished with five kills and four digs kills in a 3-0 win over Neosho County in the District Championship, helping the Cavaliers punch their ticket to the 2023 NJCAA D-II National Tournament (11-4-23) … Recorded double figures in digs twice during the national tournament … First collected 10 digs in a 3-1 win over No. 12 Gulf Coast State (11-15-23) … Recorded 10 kills again in a 3-2 win over No. 3 Parkland (11-18-23) … Closed out the tournament with 32 total kills.
