Nine JCCC men’s soccer players earn All-KJCCC D-II honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) announced its 2023 men's soccer awards and Johnson County had nine players named to the All-KJCCC Division II Men's Soccer Team. Three were on the first-team and six earned second-team recognition.

Earning first team were sophomore forward Jacksyn McIntyre, freshman midfielder Monty Almaliky and freshman goalkeeper Brody Macoubrie

Second-team honors went to freshman defender Nick McTighe, freshman defender Carson Schmitt, sophomore defender Homer Skidmore, freshman midfielder Dominic Zuniga, freshman midfielder Brian Aleman and freshman midfielder Gavin Hudnall.

McIntyre led the team in scoring with 22 points. He tied for the team lead in goals scored with nine and was second in assists with four. His 22 points ranked third in the conference and his nine goals tied for third. In the opening week of the season, McIntrye scored both goals in a loss to No. 4 ranked Phoenix and first goal in a 6-1 win at Scottsdale. That performance earned him the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week. For his career, McIntyre netted 17 goals with 12 assists for 46 points. His 46 points tie for 18th all-time at JCCC and his 17 goals tie for 20th. McIntryre was a second-team all-conference selection last season. 

Almaliky was the team's second leading scorer with 21 points. He tied McIntrye for most goal scored with nine, which also tied for third in the conference. His 21 points were fourth most in the conference standings. Almaliky also tied for second on the team and in the conference with three game winning goals.  Three times during the season, he was honored as the KJCCC D-II Men's Soccer Player of the Week, earning the award in weeks six, eight and nine.

Macoubrie proved to be the top keeper in the conference in 2023. He finished with a record of 9-5-3 with three shutouts, and a goals against average of 1.64. His nine victories led the conference and was second in GAA and shutouts. Macoubrie was also most decorated player during the regular season, earning KJCCC D-II Goalkeeper of the Week six times, the most of any player in team history. 

McTighe, Schmitt and Skidmore were key member of JCCC's defensive unit which posted a goals against average of 1.47 with four shutouts. All three also helped out on the offensive end. McTighe finished with three goals and two assists for eight points. One of his goals was a game winner. Schmitt tallied one goal and Skidmore collected two assists. 

Zuniga tied for third on the team in scoring with 13 points from six goals and one assist. His six goals scored were third most on the team. He also tied for the team lead in game winning goals with three. In the fifth week of the season, Zuniga was named KJCCC D-II Player of the Week after netting the game winner in 3-0 win over Hesston and scoring the first goal in a 2-1 win at Pratt. 

Aleman tied Zuniga for third in the scoring with 13 points. He scored four goals and led the team with five assists, which ranked fourth in the conference. 

Hudnall was a key defensive midfielder for the Cavaliers in 2023, helping the defense post a 1.47 GAA and post four shutouts. He also helped on the offensive end scoring  one goal.
