OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Despite a poor shooting effort from 3-point land, the No. 8 Johnson County women's basketball cruised to a 31-point road win over Southeast Community College Tuesday night, 70-39. 

The Lady Cavaliers shot just 23 percent from 3-point range, going 7-for-30, but Johnson County ran out to an early 23-7 lead after the first period and continued to add to their margin in each following quarter. 

Defensively, Johnson County put on an impressive display, holding the Storm to just 21 percent from the field. Southeast it its own troubles hitting long-range shots, going just 5-for-37 for 13 percent from downtown. 

"I though our kids defended with a lot of attention to detail with very good energy," said JCCC head coach Ben Conrad. "We were able to adapt and adjust to some things we saw early, which is very important this time of year with limited film." 

Johnson County also dominated the glass, outrebounding Southeast 61-to-37. 

Sophomore forward KK Jackson-Morris was the only player for JCCC to finish in double figures scoring. She poured in 17 points to go along with six rebounds. She was 7-of-15 overall and 3-of-5 from 3-point range. 

Sophomore guard Krystal Rice added nine points, and followed by sophomore guard Christen Curry with eight and Freshmen Jaylen Townsend and Le'Yanna McGinnis with seven points each. McGinnis also hauled down eight rebounds. 

Freshman forward LaJahda Boyland was the game's top rebounder with 13, five on the offensive end and eight defensive. She also contributed six points and three steals. 

Southeast freshman guard Caitlyn Ward the Storm with 11 points, followed by freshman guard Ally Stewart with nine. 

Johnson County travels to Fort Scott for its next two games. The face Evangel University JV on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m., and William Penn University JV on Friday, Nov. 8 at noon. They return home to host Missouri Valley College Orange Reserve on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
