JCCC downs Moberly Area 58-56 to close out first half of season 14-0

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College women's basketball team enters the holiday break with a perfect mark of 14-0 after posting a 58-56 victory at Moberly Area Community College last Saturday evening.  The Lady Cavaliers fell behind by six after the first quarter but fought back to take a three-point lead into the locker room at halftime and held on for the two-point win. 

Sophomore guard Jazzy Kinge was the star of the game for JCCC. She hit 7-of-9 shots and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line for 20 points. She was the only Lady Cavaliers to post double figures. Klinge also grabbed 12 rebounds to register her third double-double of the season. 

Freshman forward Amani Henry was the second leading scorer with nine points followed by freshmen guards Taliyah Scott and Amaya Marshall with eight each and sophomore guard Saige Grampsas with eight. Grampsas also grabbed eight boards and had four steals.

Moberly Area had two players in double digits led by Jordan Labrador-Hallett with 11 followed by Destiny Bynum-Johnson with 10.

Johnson County will start the second half of their season on the road with games in Trenton, Mo., January 4 against North Central Missouri, followed by a trip to Beatrice, Neb., on January 7 to take Southeast Community College.  The Lady Cavaliers will open conference play at home on Saturday, January 13 against Highland Community College. The tip is scheduled for 1 p.m.
