OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 7-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team handed No. 15 Kansas City Kansas a 73-59 loss on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the season series. 

Clinging to a 52-51 lead after three quarters, the Lady Cavaliers outscored the Blue Devils 21-to-8 in the final period to improve to 25-4 on the season, and 7-3 and a tie for second in conference play. KCKCC fell to 24-6 and 5-5. 

Sophomore forward KK Jackson-Morris led three Lady Cavaliers in double figures with 17 points. She was 6-for-8 shooting, with two 3-pointers, and 3-of-3 at the free throw line. 

Sophomore guard Krystal Rice, who scored a career high 29 points against Hesston earlier the week, finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Freshman guard Jaylen Townsend added 10 points. 

Other key contributions were turned in by sophomore Dallie Hoskinson (6 points, 4 steals), freshman Le'Yanna McGinnis (7 points, 6 rebounds) and freshman D'Aysa Collier-Williams (7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists) 

Despite finishing in a tie for second with Highland, Johnson County fell to the No. 3 seed in the upcoming playoffs by losing the tie breaker with the Lady Scotties. Highland defeated the No. 1 seed and conference champion Labette earlier this season. The Lady Cavaliers will host sixth-seeded Fort Scott (3-23) on Friday, February 28. The winner will travel to Highland on Tuesday, March 3. The Region VI D-II championship game will be held at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kan., on Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m.
