Big third quarter powers women’s basketball team to win over No. 4 North Central Missouri

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2 ranked Johnson County women's basketball team shot 71.4 percent in the third quarter and outscored the No. 4 North Central Missouri 27-10 on their way to a 76-57 victory Monday night at JCCC Gymnasium.   

JCCC held the Pirates to 7.7 percent shooting outrebounded NCMC 12-to-0 in the quarter.

With the victory, the Lady Cavaliers improved to 10-0 on the season and extended their home court win streak to 60 straight games.

Freshman guard Maizen Williams scored nine of her game-high 15 points in the third quarter to power the Lady Cavaliers offense. She was 3-for-3 from the field and 3-for-3 at the free throw line.  For the game she finished 5-of-11 with a 3-pointer and 4-of-4 at the line. She also grabbed five rebounds. 

Sophomore guard Saige Grampsas knocked down four 3-point baskets to finish with 14 points to go along with four boards and three assists.  Sophomore forward Grace Lynch followed with nine points and freshman guard Taliyah Scott and sophomore guard Jazzy Klinge each contributed eight points.  Scott also led the team with five assists and Klinge was the top rebounder with six. 

Johnson County travels to Creston, Iowa Wednesday night to take on Southwestern Community College, then return home to host Missouri Valley College JV on Friday, December 1 at 5:30 p.m.
