Johnson County throttles Missouri Valley JV 108-36

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team improved to 9-0 on the season and extended its current home court winning streak to 23 games with a 108-36 blowout over Missouri Valley JV on Monday night at JCCC Gymnasium. 

The Lady Cavaliers were so dominant, they held the Vikings scoreless for 12-minutes, 40-seconds. With 45 second remaining in the first quarter Johnson County had built a 20-point lead, 31-21. When Missouri Valley scored its next basket with 8:05 left in the third quarter, the Lady Cavaliers were on cruise control leading 68-to-13. 

Guard Kierra Prim registered her fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 24 points and 11 rebounds. She hit 8-of-13 shots and was 8-of-9 and the free throw line. She also had an assist and two steals. 

Center Nyayien Koang had one of her best performances in the Johnson County uniform, posing 11 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. 

Gabby Fuller and Gabriela Moore both topped double digits for the first time this season, each finishing with 10 points. Fuller hit 5-of-7 shots and grabbed seven boards. Moore was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field and was 4-of-6 at the line. 

Point guard Mackenzie Hart also had a solid line with six points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. 

Other key effort were turned in by Shonyah Hawkins (9 points, four rebounds); Megan Mahan (8 points, four rebounds) and Alina Holsman (7 points, 3 steals). 

Johnson County returns to the floor after the Thanksgiving holiday on Saturday, November 27 when they host Marshalltown at 2 p.m., and on Sunday, November 28 at home against Southeast at 2 p.m.
