JCCC takes care of Hesston with a 95-44 victory

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team entered Wednesday night's home matchup with Hesston looking to extend their season winning streak to 22 straight, their come court winning streak to 64 straight and the all-time series with Hesston to 64 straight and all three were secured by halftime. 

The Lady Cavalier were up 48-21 after two periods and cruised to a 95-44 victory behind a balanced scoring attack and strong on-ball defense.

Johnson County (22-0, 5-0) had four players finish in double figures and four others contribute six or more points in the victory. 

Sophomore forward Grace Lynch came in off the bench to the lead the team with 17 points. She hit 6-of-13 shot attempts, including three 3-pointers and a pair of free throws. She also grabbed five rebounds.

Freshman guard Maizen Williams followed with a season-high 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting with three treys. She also tallied three rebounds and three assists. 

Sophomore guard Saige Grampsas followed up her best effort of the season with a 12-point, six-rebound performance and freshman guard Taliyah Scott flirted with a double-double finishing with 10 points and nine assists.

Other key efforts were turned by freshman forward Amani Henry (8 points, 5 rebounds), freshman forward Karlee Ellick (7 points) and freshman forward Micah Landry (6 points, 3 rebounds). 

Johnson County will hit the road for its next two conference matchups before returning home to host cross-town rival Kansas City Kansas (15-7, 3-2) on February 10. The Cavaliers take on Neohso County (17-4, 4-1) on Saturday, February 3, followed by Highland (14-9, 2-4) on Wednesday, February 7.
