JCCC women’s basketball advances to national semifinals

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County women's basketball team remains perfect on the season, defeating Lincoln Land 63-46 to advance to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament semifinals in Joplin, Mo. The Lady Cavaliers improve to 33-0 and will face No. 4 CCBC Essex today at 7 p.m., for a spot in the national championship game on Saturday. 

Sophomore guard Jazzy Klinge recorded her team-leading 10th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Klinge connected on 7-of-8 shots and was 3-of-5 at the free throw line. She also had a team high four assists.

Freshman forward Micah Landry posted her best effort of the season finishing with 14 points off the bench on 7-of-10 shooting. 

Head coach Ben Conrad also got solid production from freshman Maizen Williams (9 points), freshman Amani Henry (6 points, 7 rebounds) and sophomore Saige Grampsas (8 points, 3 rebounds) 

Johnson County shot 51.9 percent from the field despite only making 3-of-15 from 3-point range. 

Marly Smith led Lincoln Land with 18 points.  The Loggers shot 36 percent and were just 2-of-10 beyond the arc.
