Prim selected NJCAA D-II Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College guard Kierra Prim has been selected the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Player of the Week for week 7 (December 13-January 3). This is the first time Prim has been selected as the national player of the week. She has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Conference D-II Player of the Week three times this season. She is also just the seventh player in team history to earn national player of the week honors. 

Prim averaged 22.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.5 assists while leading the No. 2-ranked Lady Cavaliers remain perfect at 15-0 with a pair of double-digit victories. She opened the week 25 points, 5 rebounds and five steals in an 81-53 home win over Tabor JV. She closed out the week with 20 points, a career-high 17 boards, two assists and two steals in a 72-50 road victory over Southeast. 

Through 16 games, Prim is averaging 17.12 points and 10.24 rebounds. She has scored in double figures in 14 games and topped 10+ rebounds nine times, including a 19-point, 14-reobund effort in 69-44 win over North Platte Wednesday afternoon. She leads the D-II conference in scoring average and ranks second in rebound average. She also leads the conference in field goal accuracy making 55.3 percent of her attempts.
