Katie Bollegar
2000 • Center

Katie Bollegar was named the 2000 National Tournament MVP after leading JCCC to a championship in JCCC’s first trip to big stage.  Bollegar powered JCCC to a first round win over South Suburban, finishing with 20 points and eight rebounds. She added nine points and seven boards in the semifinal win over Shelton State, then capped the tournament with a 14-point, five-rebound night in the title win over Monroe.  Bollegar averaged 14.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in three games. 

Kate DeBaun
2000 • Guard

Kate DeBaun, who set three NJCAA D-II tournament records, averaged 13.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game in the 2000 tournament.  DeBaun opened play with eight points and two board against South Suburban, then exploded for 23 points and nine rebounds in the semifinal win over Shelton State. DeBaun hit 14-of-14 free throws in the game, setting tournament records for most free throws in a game and most consecutive free throws in a game. However, it was her 3-pointer late in the game that put JCCC up for good and sealed the victory.

Angie Dinkel
2000 • Center

The team leader all season, Angie Dinkel shined at the national tournament. She averaged 14.0 point and 8.3 rebounds in the three tournament games.  In the tournaments opening game against South Suburban, Dinkel scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds.  She followed with nearly a double-double of 10 points and nine rebounds in the semifinal, and capped the tournament with a 16-point, 10-rebound performance in the championship game against Monroe. 

Casey Ellis
2002 • Guard

Casey Ellis put together an amazing run in the 2002 National Tournament, helping JCCC  to a fifth place finish. Ellis averaged 17.5 points over the four games, and she tallied 70 points. In JCCC’s three victories, Ellis was the team leading scorer. She opened with 20 points against Shelton State, 18 against Mott and 24 against Mesa.  She had eight points in JCCC’s loss to Illinois Central.  Ellis knocked down 13 3-point baskets in the tournament, still a team record today. She is JCCC’s all-time leader in points scored in tournament play with 115, an average of 16.4 per game.

Colleen Kivett
2004 • Guard

There is no place like home, at least that is what Colleen Kivett felt after the 2004 tournament. Playing on her home floor, Kivett averaged 13.3 points per game, which led JCCC. She led all players in the tournament in field goal percentage at .700 (14-for-20) and free throw percentage at 1.000 (8-for-8) and was second in 3-point field goal percentage at .800 (4-for-5).  She also averaged six rebounds. She scored 15 points in a win over CC of Rhode Island, and helped JCCC secure seventh place by leading her team with 18 points  and nine rebounds in a win over Kankakee.  

Becca Boan
2006 • Guard

Becca Boan averaged 19.3 points and was a catalyst for JCCC’s offense from the perimeter. In the tournament’s first game, Boan scored 10 points in a loss to CC of Rhode Island, then exploded for a career high 30 points in a win over Mercyhurst Northeast. Boan tied a National Tournament record hitting eighth 3-point field goals. She capped the tournament scoring 18 points in a win over Bismarck State.

Katy Davenport
2006 • Forward

Katy Davenport averaged 20.0 points and 8.7 rebounds at the 2006 National Tournament, helping JCCC to a seventh-place finish.  In the tournament’s opening game, Davenport led JCCC with 14 points and a career high 16 rebounds in a loss to CC of Rhode Island.  She followed with 25 points in a win over Mercyhurst Northeast and capped the tournament with a game high 21 points in a win over Bismarck State.

Meghan Waggoner
2008 • Guard

Meghan Waggoner had an amazing tournament in 2008 while leading JCCC to a fifth place finish.  She scored 82 points and averaged 27.3 points per game, both new JCCC tournament records.  She also set records for field goals in a game (11 vs. Genesee) and field goals in a tournament (27). Waggoner led all scores in their opening loss to Mott, pouring in a career high 29 points. She was again the team’s top scorer in their win over Genesee, establishing a new career hight with 31 points. She also had nine rebounds and four assists. 

Liz Smith
2010 • Center

Liz Smith became the ninth player in team history to be selected to the National All-Tournament Team. Smith averaged 21.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and shot 60 percent from the floor in JCCC’s two tournament games. Smith is the ninth player in JCCC history to be selected as a National all-tournament performer. Smith opened the tournament with her 12th double-double of the season, posting career highs for points with 31 and rebounds with 16 against Patrick Henry Community College. In the second game against Parkland College, Smith finished with 11 points despite facing double team defenses all game long. She also finished with seven rebounds and matched her career high in assists with four. Smith’s efforts also etched her name in the record book at JCCC. Her 31 points against Patrick Henry tied a JCCC single game record in a national tournament, her 16 rebounds tied the second best game effort and her 13 field goals set a new standard in a tournament game. Smith also etched her name in the annuals for points in a tournament (42 - T-9th), average points in a tournament (21.0 - 2nd), rebounds in a tournament (23 - 7th), rebound average in a tournament (11.5 - 1st), field goals in a tournament (18 - T-6th), field goal percentage tournament (.600 - 3rd) and free throw percentage tournament (.750 - T-14th).

Amy Briggs
2011 • Guard

Amy Briggs capped an amazing postseason with an unbelievable effort at the NJCAA Tournament. Briggs led JCCC in scoring. In her four games at Nationals, Briggs was the team’s leading scorer with 58 points, an average of 14.5 per game. She also knocked down 14 treys, the most by any JCCC player in tournament history. Additionally, her 58 points tied for the fifth most in team history, and she hit all eight free throws to tie a team tournament mark. She also tied the second and fourth-best game efforts with her six 3-pointers against Iowa Central, and her five against Harcum.

Nieka Wheeler
2015 • Forward

Nieka Wheeler became the second player in team history to be selected MVP of the NJCAA Women’s D-II Tournament after she helped guide the Lady Cavaliers to the 2015 title. In the title game, Wheeler led JCCC with a 16-point effort. Wheeler opened  the tournament with a double-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds in a 71-64 win over Southeast. She followed with 22 points and nine boards in an 80-46 win over Guilford Tech, and 21 points and 11 rebounds in the semifinal 74-64 win over Owens. She averaged 19.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in the four games at the tournament. Her 78 total points scored rank as the second most by a JCCC player in a national tournament, and her 19.5 average is fourth most. 

Alexis Brown
2015 • Guard

Alexis Brown’s buzzer beater to win JCCC’s second national championship is the greatest play in Johnson County women’s basketball history. Her winning shot sent a wave of students onto the floor for a celebration. Brown finished with 14 points off the bench for the Lady Cavaliers, hitting 5-of-13 from the field, with two treys and 2-of-3 at line. She averaged 6.3 points overall in the tournament.

Erica Nelson
2015 • Guard

Erica Nelson played some of her best basketball in the national tournament. She finished second on the team in points (14.5), third in rebounds (7.0) led the team in assists (23) and was second in steals (4). She also hit 23-of-28 free throws and hit five 3-point baskets. She opened the tournament with 16 points and eight rebounds in a 71-64 win over Southeast. She followed with 10 points and eight rebounds in an 80-46 win over Guiliford Tech, a tournament-high 24 points and eight rebounds in the semifinal 74-64 win over Owens, and 11 points and five assists in the title win over Parkland. Her final assist led to Alexis Brown’s game winning buzzer beating jumper.

Austin Richardson
2017 • Forward

Austin Richardson averaged 14.8 points and 9.8 rebounds over the four tournament games, and recorded two double-doubles. Her 59 total points scored rank as the sixth-most at nationals in team history, and her 39 rebounds tied the team record. Richardson posted double-doubles in the first two games. She was the team’s leading scorer in three of the four games, and top rebounder three times as well.

Kierra Isaiah
2017 • Forward

Kierra Isaiah demonstrated consistent and dominant play all four games at the national tournament in 2017. She averaged 7.3 points and 7.5 rebounds and shot 48 percent from the field. Her 30 total rebounds rank seventh all-time in team history in national tournament play.

Jaylen Townsend
2021 • FGuard

Jaylen Townsend was the Lady Cavaliers top scorer in the tournament, tallying 62 points, for an average of 15.5 per game.  Her 62 points are the fifth most scored by a JCCC player in national tournament play, and her 15.5 average ranks seventh.  She opened the tournament with 24 points in an 86-49 win over Grand Rapids. She followed with 19 points in the 63-60 win over Iowa Central in the quarterfinals. She also grabbed 28 rebounds in four games, an average 7.0 per game. Her 28 boards tie for ninth all-time.

Kierra Prim
2021 & 2022 • Guard

Kierra Prim was the team’s second leading scorer with 44 points, for an average of 11.0 per game. She was 21-for-35 shooting for 60 percent, which ties the fourth-best shooting percentage in tournament history by a Lady Cavaliers. She also pulled down 23 rebounds. Prim finished in double figures in two of the four games, including a season-high 20 in the national championship game.

In 2022, Prim was again named All-Tournament, making her the first player to be honored twice. She averaged 14.8 points and 7.5 rebounds in the four national tournament games. Her 14.8 average tied for ninth in tournament history and her 59 total points tie for seventh, her 29 total rebounds tie for eighth. She hit 6-of-10 shots and 5-of-6 free throws for 17 points in a 98-67 win over Cape Fear in the first round of the tournament (3-15-22). Prim made 24 total field goals, third most by a JCCC player in tournament history. She led JCCC with13 points and nine boards in a 62-57 setback to Morton in the second round (3-16-22), and followed with 17 points on 6-of-9 shots and 5-of-6 at the line to lead JCCC to a 77-74 come-from-behind win over Mesa (3-17-22) Priim registered a double-double of 12 points and 12 boards in a 72-56 win over North Central Missouri, securing JCCC a fifth-place national finish (3-19-22).
