OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County sophomore guard Krystal Rice has been selected the Kansas Jayhawk D-II Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for week 13. She joins teammates freshman LaJahda Boyland (Week 3) and sophomore Dallie Hoskinson (Week 5) as player of the week recipients this season.
Rice led the No. 8-ranked Lady Cavaliers to a pair of victories for nationally ranked programs last week. She averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. She also hit 55 percent of her field goal attempts, including 50 percent beyond the 3-point arc, and 83 percent at the free throw line. In JCCC's 90-75 win over No. 3 Highland, Rice poured in 26 points, her second best career total, and pulled down a career high seven rebounds.
For the season, Rice leads the team and ranks fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 14.1 points per game. She also ranks second in the conference with 60 made 3-point baskets, third in free throw accuracy (76.9) and fifth in 3-point accuracy (36.1).
