Double-doubles from Thomas and Klinge power JCCC to 21-point win at Highland

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore guard Lisa Thomas and freshman guard Jazzy Klinge each posted a double-double to power the No. 4-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team to a 58-37 victory at Highland Wednesday night. 

Thomas finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds to notch her third double-double of the season, and Klinge contributed 11 points and 12 boards for her first double-double. Thomas was 4-of-10 shooting and 4-of-4 at the free throw line. Kling hit 5-of-6 shots and a free throw. 

Sophomore guard Mackenzie Hart, who was named the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week on Tuesday, led the Lady Cavaliers with 14 points. She hit 6-of-13 shots with two 3-pointers. 

Freshman Grace Lynch came in off the bench and provided 11 points and four rebounds. She was 5-of-7 shooting. 

Johnson County built a six-point lead after the first period, then blew the game open in the second period outscoring the Scotties 24-to-7. 

Courtney Davis led Highland with 14 points. 

Johnson County (27-1/11-1) will play its final regular season home game on Saturday when they host Neosho County (19-8/6-6) at 2 p.m. They close out the regular season at Allen (17-10/6-6) on Wednesday, March 1. With wins in their final two games, the Lady Cavaliers will secure at least a share of the Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II title.
