Lady Cavaliers post second largest win in program history downing Hesston 112-25

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 3-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team took out their frustration of their undefeated season ending last week on Hesston Saturday afternoon as they pummeled the Larks 112-25.

The 87-point margin Is not only the largest in the series' history, it ranks tied for the second largest in program history. 

Five of the Lady Cavaliers' eight players scored in double figures led by a career effort by guard Mackenzie Hart. The Olathe, Kan., sophomore poured in 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting with five 3-pointers, and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. She also grabbed nine rebounds. 

Sophomore guard Lisa Thomas and freshman forward Grace Lynch each recorded a double-double. Thomas finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds, along with seven assists and six steals. Lynch tallied 20 points and 11 boards, both career highs. This was Lynch's third straight game to score in double figures.

Also finishing in double figures were sophomore forward LaJahda Boyland and freshman guard Saige Grampsas. Boyland posted 16 points and seven rebounds, and Grampsas followed with 15 points, six rebounds and five assists. 

As a team Johnson County shot 57 percent and outrebounds the Larks by 40, 58-18.

Johnson County (26-1/10-1) has three games remaining in the regular season. They travel to Highland on Wednesday, February 22, host Neosho County on Saturday, February 25 and close out the year at Allen on Wednesday, March 1.
