JCCC rebounds from first loss to post a 59-point win over Hesston

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College women's basketball took out their frustration on falling for the first time this season by pounding Hesston College 99-40 on Saturday afternoon at the JCCC Gymnasium. With the win the Lady Cavaliers improve to 23-1 overall and remain in a three-way tie for first in the conference with Kansas City Kansas and Labette at 3-1. 

Johnson County jumped out early on Hesston leading 24-10 after the first quarter, and 48-18 at the half. 

Freshman forward KK Jackson-Morris posted her second-best game of the season finishing with 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting, with three 3-pointers, and 2-of-2 at the free throw line. She also contributed four rebounds and two steals. 

Sophomore guard Paige Elston followed with 17 points, and sophomore guard Jacionna Stowers and freshman guard Christen Curry provide 11 and 10 points respectively off the bench. 

Freshman guard Brandi Thibeaux scored eight points and matched her season in rebounds with six to help JCCC to the blowout win. 

The Lady Cavaliers, still ranked No. 1 at this point, will host No.7 Kansas City Kansas on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.  The Lady Blue Devils lead the NJCAA in total points scored with 2229 and their 92.9 per game average is third-best in the country.
