JCCC women’s basketball dominates Southeast 77-23

OVERLAND PARK, Kan – Sophomore guard Gabby Fuller scored Johnson County's first nine points and 12 of her game-high 17 in the first quarter to lead the No. 2-ranked Lady Cavaliers to a 32-5 lead after 10 minutes. JCCC then cruised to a 77-23 victory to improve to 11-0 on the season and extend its home court winning streak to 25 straight. 

For the game Fuller hit 7-of-13 shots, including both 3-point attempts, and was 1-of-1 at the free throw line. She also led the team with nine rebounds. 

Johnson County held the Storm to eight or fewer points in ever quarter, and the 23 total points scored tie the fifth lowest output against the Lady Cavaliers. 

Jaylen Townsend followed with 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting. She also had four boards, an assist, and a steal. 

Aryannah Harrison reached double figures for the second time this season providing 10 points off the bench. 

Other key contributors were Nariyah Simmons (9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals); Shonyah Hawkins (8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals), Kierra Prim (6 points, 5 rebounds) and Nyayien Kaong (6 points, 2 rebounds). 

Johnson County will face its second big test of the season on Friday, December 3 against defending national champion and current No. 4-ranked Lake Land College (5-1) at the John Wood Classic in Quincy, Ill. The Lakers defeated the Lady Cavaliers 53-49 to win the championship last season. JCCC will face John Wood (3-5) on Saturday afternoon. 

They return home to host Tabor JV on Monday, December 6 at 5:30 p.m.
