OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team erased a five-point halftime deficit by opening the third quarter on a 10-0 run on their way to a 55-45 victory over Allen and an outright Kansas Jayhawk Division II Conference championship. 

This is JCCC's second straight title, the seventh under head coach Ben Conrad and ninth in team history.  Johnson County finishes the regular season 28-1 overall and 12-1 in conference play. Allen fell to 10-15 and 6-8.

The Lady Cavaliers five starters accounted for 45 of the team' 55 points. Sophomore guard Gabby Fuller was the top scorer with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting with a 3-pointer. She also grabbed seven rebounds. 

Freshman guard Kierra Prim followed with 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds. 

The other three starters were Mackenzie Hart (9 points, 6 assists), Nariyah Simmons (8 points, five rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals) and Jaylen Townsend (7 points)

Naomi Smith led Allen with 15 points. She was the only Red Devil to finish in double figures. 

The Region VI D-II Tournament tips off Monday, Feb. 28. The Lady Cavaliers are the No. 1 seed and will host either Fort Scott or Hesston at 5:30 p.m. The game can be heard on 1660 The Bet on the Audacy App.
