OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After trailing by 10 points midway through the first period, the top-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team went on a 39-to-3 run to end the second period and start the third to take control of the game against cross-town rival Kansas City Kansas. The Lady Cavaliers went on post a 66-52 victory and improve to 18-0 on the season.

JCCC forward Amani Henry posted third double-double of the season, tallying 13 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. She made 6-of-her 10 shots and was a perfect 1-of-1 at the line.  The freshman out of Raytown high is averaging 6.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game this season.

Johnson County was led in scoring by sophomore guard Saige Grampsas with 17 points, knocking down 5-of-9 shots, including four 3-pointers and 3-of-4 charity shots. This is the 14th time she has reached double digits in points this year, which leads the team, and it marked the fifth time she was the Lady Cavaliers top scorer.

Johnson County's other three starters put up solid numbers as well. Freshman guard Maizen Williams contributed nine points. Freshman guard Taliyah Scott finished with seven points and six assists and sophomore guard Jazzy Klinge had solid line of six points, eight boards, three assists and four steals.

"I thought we were very solid defensively and on the glass," head coach Ben Conrad said. "We put a consistent effort along 40 minutes of basketball. We also go some nice production and a lot of execution from our bench."

One of those top bench performers was freshman forward Karlee Ellick. The Neosho, Missouri native hit all four of her shot attempts to post a season high eight points. She also brought down five rebounds and blocked a shot.

KCKCCC sophomore Jada Johnson, last week's KJCCC D-II Player of the Week, led all scorers with 23 points.

Johnson County travels to Iola, Kanas on Saturday afternoon to take on Allen Community College (13-3) in a battle of the top two teams in the conference standings.  However, the Lady Red Devils come into the contest on the heels of a 91-84 road loss to Neosho County. They return home to host North Arkansas College in a non-conference match on Tuesday, January 23 at 6 p.m.
