OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 4-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team put on an offensive and defensive clinic against visiting Bethany JV Thursday night, downing the Swedes by 81 points, 112-31.  The 81-point margin is the third largest in program history.

Johnson County (16-1) jumped out a 27-14 lead after the first quarter, then blew the game open in the second and third quarter by outscoring Bethany 66-to-6. 

Guard Amber Kettering, a sophomore transfer from Jefferson College, registered her best effort in a Johnson County uniform, pouring in a season-high 20 points. Ten of her 20 came in the second quarter run by the Lady Cavaliers. Kettering hit 6-of-8 shots, including three 3-pointers, and was 5-of-6 at the free throw line. Her previous best this season was 10 points in a win over Missouri Valley JV on Nov. 13.

Every member of the Lady Cavaliers roster scored in the game, including four others that posted double figures.  Freshman forward LaJahda Boyland and sophomore guard Christen Curry each finished with 15 points.  Boyland was a perfect 7-for-7 shooting with a free throw, and grabbed six rebounds. Curry hit 6-of-9 shots, including a 3-pointer and two free throws, and contributed four steals and three assists. 

Freshman guard Jaylen Townsend added 14 points and six boards, and sophomore guard Dallie Hoskinson had an impressive line of 11 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and five steals. 

Other key efforts were turned by; freshman guard Taniyah Henry (9 points, 6 rebounds), sophomore forward KK Jackson-Morris (7 points), freshman guard Gabby Fuller (7 points, 3 assists), freshman guard D'Asya Colllier-Williams (6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists); freshman forward Bryonna Coulter (4 points, 5 rebounds) and freshman forward Le'Yanna McGinnis (4 points, 5 rebounds). 

Lexi Neel and Monica Quintanar led Bethany JV with five points each. 

These teams were go at it again on Sunday in Lindsborg, Kan., but with a winter weather advistory for the area this weekend, the game has been cancelled.  Johnson County will next be in action at home against Southeast Community College on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and Missouri Valley College JV on Thursday, January 16. Both games are scheduled to tip at 5:30 p.m.
