Top-ranked Lady Cavaliers rally from 10 down, beats No. 19 Allen

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No.-1 ranked Johnson County women's basketball team found themselves in very unfamiliar territory on Wednesday night after two periods of play – they were trailing for the first time this season. However, the Lady Cavalier rallied to pull out a 62-57 win to remain unbeaten at 26-0 and extend their home court win streak to 67 straight games.

Allen Community College, who moved into the top-20 at No. 19 to being the week, built a 10-point halftime lead, but the Lady Cavaliers rallied in the third quarter fueled by a 21-2 run through the first six minutes of the quarter. JCCC made 8-of-12 shots in the third period, including four 3-pointers, and was 6-of-7 at the line.

Sophomore guard Saige Grampsas and freshman guard Maizen Williams led the charge. Grampsas scored 15 of her game-high 17 points after halftime, nine coming in the third quarter. She opened the quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers to pull JCCC to within four points. Williams tallied eight of her 12 points in third quarter. 

Freshman forward Amani Henry also finished in double digits with 10 points, making all five of her field goal attempts. 

Sophomore guard Jazzy Klinge was the team's top rebounder with seven to go along with six points. 

Freshman guard Ramyiah Logan provided a season-high eight points off the bench. She also contributed two boards and two assists. 

Other key efforts were turned in by freshman guard Taliyah Scott (7 assists, 3 points), freshman center Aa'Mya Stacker (4 points) and freshman forward Micah Landry (4 rebounds, 2 points).

Noa Muranaka led the Red Devils with 15 points, followed by Khassidy Warr with 12.

Johnson County will travel to Harrison, Arkansas for a non-conference matchup with North Arkansas College, on Saturday, February 17,  then return home to host Labette on Wednesday, February 21 at 5:30 p.m.
