OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County guard Jaylen Townsend showed off the skills that earned her national player of the year honors last year, pouring in 27 points to lead the No.-ranked Lady Cavaliers to an 81-41 blowout over Marshalltown Saturday afternoon at JCCC Gymnasium.

The sophomore from Edwardsville, Ill., was 11-for-23 from the field, and hit 5-of-9 shots from 3-point range. She also grabbed four rebounds and had three assists.

Nariyah Simmons reached double figures for the second time this season, finishing with 16 6-of-11 shooting with four 3-pointers. She also accounted for three rebound and two steals.

Freshman guard Kierra Prim, the team's leading scorer through 10 games, was held under 10 points for the first time this season, finishing with nine. She did post double digits in rebounds for the sixth time this season, grabbing 15, on shy of her season high.

Other key efforts were turned by Gabby Fuller (9 rebounds, 4 points); Aryannah Harrison (5 points); Megan Mahan (5 points, 3 rebounds); Mackenzie Hart (3 points, 6 assists) and Khylee Massey (4 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists).
