OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County women's basketball team defeated MidAmerica Nazarene JV 87-30 Wednesday night, marking their 55th consecutive win at JCCC Gymnasium to set a new school record.
JCCC's home win streak began back on February 8, 2020, with a 90-75 win over a No. 3-ranked Highland Community College squad. The previous record of 54 home court wins ran from February 7, 2015 to February 8, 2018. The Lady Cavaliers also had a 46 games streak from February 24, 2011 to December 14, 2013. All three have come under the direction of head coach Ben Conrad.
In the win over MNU, four JCCC players scored in double figures led by starters Taliyah Scott and Grace Lynch and reserve Amaya Marshall each finishing with 15 points. Scott was 6-of-12 from the field with two 3-pointers and a free throw. She also had a team high six assists. Lynch hit 6-of-9 shots with a trey and two free throws and pulled down six rebounds and Marshall was 5-of-6 shooting with four treys and charity shot.
Also in double digits was sophomore guard Saige Grampsas with 13 points to go along with four boards, four assists and three steals.
Sophomore guard Jazzy Klinge nearly posted a double-double finishing with eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Johnson County will try to extend their home court streak this weekend when they host Iowa Lakes on Friday and Southwestern on Saturday. Game times are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
