JCCC women’s basketball clinches conference title, extends home court win streak to 68 straight

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked and undefeated Johnson County women's basketball team (27-0, 10-0) extended their home court win streak to 68 straight games with a 79-43 victory over Labette (4-19, 1-9), and in the process clinched the regular season Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II title. 

This is the 11th conference championship in JCCC women's basketball history, and the ninth under head coach Ben Conrad.

Johnson County led by just nine points after two periods but dominated third quarter 24-4 to put the game away. 

Sophomore guard Jazzy Klinge led all scorers with 23 points, one shy of her career high point total. The Blue Vally graduate hit 9-of-13 shots and 5-of-6 free throws. She also pulled down 11 rebounds to post her team-leading eighth double-double on the season. 

Sophomore guard Saige Grampsas knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points. She also contributed five rebounds, three assists and two steals. 

Freshman guard Taliyah Scott added 13 points, seven boards and six assists and sophomore forward Grace Lynch provided eight points and four rebounds off the bench.

The top rebounder for the Lady Cavaliers was freshman forward Amani Henry with 13 to match her career high.

Mikayla Washington was the only player for Labette to reach double figures scoring. She finished with 13 points. 

Johnson County has two conference games remaining in the regular season. They travel to Hesston, Kan., on Saturday to take on the Larks (11-14,1-9), the close out the season at home against Neosho County (19-7, 6-4)  on Wednesday, February 28. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
