OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 5-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team continued its dominance over Southeast Community College, improving to 20-1 all-time against the Storm with a 72-44 win Saturday afternoon at JCCC Gymnasium.
Sophomore transfer guard Presley Barton led all scorers with 20 points, hitting 6-of-12 from beyond the 3-point line. She also was 2-for-2 at the line. Her 20 points are a new career high and her six treys are the most by a JCCC player in their season debut.
Freshman guard Marissa Ritchey was just as impressive, hitting 4-of-7 from 3-point range to finish with 12 points. She also contributed two rebounds and two assists.
Sophomore guard Gabby Fuller was game's top rebounder with a career high 10 boards. She also added seven points and two assists.
Other key efforts were turned by freshman guard Kourtland Tyus (9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists), sophomore forward LaJahda Boyland (6 points, 7 rebounds) and sophomore guard D'Asya Collier-Williams (5 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists).
Southeast did not have player finish in double figures. They were led by Hunter Hartshorn and Jayse Koehler each with eight points.
The Lady Cavaliers are off this week. They return to the floor on Monday, February 1 against Tabor College JV. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
