JCCC women’s basketball team runs home court win streak to 47 straight

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 3-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team raced out to a 21-point lead after the first quarter then cruised to an 83-55 victory over Highland Saturday afternoon at JCCC Gymnasium.  The victory upped the Lady Cavaliers season mark to 20-0 and extended their home court win streak to 47 games, second longest in team history. 

Sophomore guard Mackenzie Hart led all scorers with 25 points. She was 9-fo-19 shooting, 4-of-5 from 3-point range and 3-of-3 at the free throw line. She also seven assists, six rebounds and two steals. That performance along with her 20-point effort in a win at Hesston last Wednesday earned her the KJCCC D-II Women's Basketball Player of the Week. 

Sophomore guard Nirayah Simmons also finished in double figures pouring in 16 points, along with five boards. 

Freshman guard Jazzy Klinge was the top rebounder with nine. She also contributed six points.

The Cavaliers travel to Chanute, Kan., on Wednesday, February 1 to take on Neosho County, then they return to host Allen on Saturday, February 4 at 2 p.m.
