OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Presley Barton scored a career-high 24 points and Jaylen Townsend posted her second career double-double to lead the No. 3-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team to an 81-51 win at Fort Scott, Wednesday night.
Barton knocked down a season-high eight 3-point baskets, which ties the third-best performance in team history. She currently leads the conference and NJCAA with 44 made 3-pointers.
Townsend finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, eight coming on the offensive end. Her 11-rebound effort ties her season-high. Townsend was 4-of-13 from the field, and a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line.
Kierra Prim and Gabby Fuller also finished in double digits scoring. Prim finished with 11 points, going 5-of-6 from the field with a free throw. Fullero contributed 10 points, along with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Leikyn Walker led Fort Scott with 15 points.
Johnson County (11-0, 2-0) travels to Hesston, Kan., to face the Larks (4-5, 0-1) on Saturday, March 6.
