Prim, Townsend lead JCCC to 72-41 win over Metropolitan

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County guard Kierra Prim continued on her breakout season Wednesday night, registering her third straight double-double and fourth of the season, to power the No.2-ranked Lady Cavaliers to a 72-41 win over Metropolitan. 

Prim, who has been named the D-II KJCCC Player of the Week the first two weeks of the season, finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds.  She was 7-of-11 from the field, and a perfect 9-of-9 at the charity strip.  She currently ranks second in the conference in scoring averaging 18.4 per game, and leads in rebounding at 10.6 per game. She also is tops in field goal percentage (65.8) and free throw accuracy (92.3). 

2021 NJCAA D-II Player of the Year Jaylen Townsend was the only other JCCC player to post double digits finishing with 18 points. She also had three steals, two rebounds and two assists. 

Sophomore guard Gabby Fuller flirted with a double-double posting eight points and eight boards. 

Aryannah Harrison was JCCC's top player off the bench with seven points and four rebounds. 

Ndeye Penda Ndiaye led Metropolitan with 12 points, followed by Isabel Sibert with 10. 

Johnson County (7-0) will host No. 6 Illinois Central on Saturday, November 20 at 2 p.m. These two met last year in the national semifinals with JCCC prevailing 69-56.  The game can be heard on 1660 AM KWOD and on the Audacy App at 1660 The Bet.
