JCCC women’s basketball improves to 7-0 with 68-51 win at Southeast

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 4-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team picked up at 68-51 victory at Southeast Community College on Wednesday night in Beatrice, Neb., to remain unbeaten on the season. 

The Lady Cavaliers (7-0) built a nine-point lead after two quarters, then blew the game open by outscoring the Storm by 14 (21-7) in the third quarter. 

Head coach Ben Conrad got solid play out his three starting sophomore guards Mackenzie Hart, Nariyah Simmons and Lisa Thomas. The three combined for 50 of the team's 68 points. 

Hart led all scorers with 18 points, going 7-of-16 from the field with a 3-pointer and 3-of-4 at the line. She also had five assists. 

Simmons, who on Tuesday was named the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week, hit 7-of-15 shots with three treys for 17 points and Thomas flirted with a triple-double for the second time this season, finishing with 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Johnson County returns to the hardwood on Friday, November 18 when they host Ottawa University JV at 5:30 p.m., followed by a home game Saturday, November 19 at 2 p.m. against John Wood Community College.
