Six Lady Cavaliers net double figures in 95-50 win at Labette

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -  The top-ranked Johnson County Community College women's basketball team downed host Labette Community College 95-50 Saturday afternoon in a Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II game played at Labette County Gymnasium.

With the victory Johnson County remains perfect at 20-0 and 4-0 in conference play. 

The Lady Cavaliers had six players reach double figures to help lead to the 45-point win. It is the largest margin since JCCC defeated the Cardinals by 50, 79-29 on February 13, 2016, at Labette. 

Sophomore forward Grace Lynch led all scorers with 17 points off the bench. She hit 6-of-8 shots, including three beyond the 3-point line, and was a perfect 2-for-2 at the free throw line. It marked the fourth time this season Lynch finished as the team's top scorer and ninth time she finished in double figures scoring.

Freshman guard Taliyah Scott followed with her third highest scoring effort of the season with 16 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists.

Sophomore guard Jazzy Klinge registered her team leading sixth double-double of the season finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Freshman guard Maizen Williams contributed 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting and sophomore guard Saige Grampsas and freshman forward Micah Landry each added 10 points in the win. 

Freshman forward Karlee Ellick nearly made is seven player with 10 plus points, finishing with eight on 4-of-7 shooting. 

As a team, the Lady Cavaliers hit 55 percent of their shot attempts, and were 7-for-17 from 3-point range for just over 41 percent.

Labette had three reach double digits led by Makayla Washington with 12.

Johnson County quickly turns around to host North Arkansas College on Tuesday, January 30 in their final non-conference home game of the season. Opening tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. JCCC wlll be looking to extend their home court win streak to 64 straight games.
