Conrad notches 350th win as JCCC tops Ft. Scott by 46 to advance in Region playoffs

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 7-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team (27-4) advanced to the Region VI semifinals with an 87-41 blowout victory over Fort Scott (3-24) Friday night, while also giving Ben Conrad his 350th victory as JCCC's head coach. 

The Lady Cavaliers will face No. 13 Highland (21-3) on Tuesday, March 3 on the Scotties home floor, with the winner advancing to the championship game on Friday, March 6 at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kan. 

Sophomore guard Krystal Rice, last week's Kansas Jayhawk D-II Conference Player of the Week, powered the Lady Cavaliers with a game-high 19 points. She was 7-of-14 shooting and 1-of-1 at the free throw line. Four of seven buckets were beyond the 3-point arc, upping her season total to 81, which currently ranks 13th for a season at JCCC. 

Freshman forward LaJahda Boyland poured in a career-high 18 points off the bench. She also hit seven field goals on 12 attempts, with a 3-pointer and three free throws. Boyland also pulled down six rebounds and blocked two shots. 

Sophomore guard Dallie Hoskinson, who has a record three triple-doubles this year, posted a double-double of 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. She also had three steals. 

Sophomore guard Christen Curry also had a productive night, finishing with 10 points, four assists and three steals. She was 4-of-5 shooting. 

Other key contributors were freshman forward Le'Yanna McGinnis (6 points, 9 rebounds), freshman guard Jaylen Townsend (9 points) and sophomore forward KK Jackson-Morris (5 points, 5 rebounds). 

Karlena Keller was the only Fort Scott player to post double digits scoring, finishing with 12 points.
