JCCC advances to Region 6 D-II Championship with a 67-43 win over Highland

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team improved to 30-0 on the and extended their home court win streak to 70 straight with a 67-42 victory over Highland in the semifinals of the Region 6 Tournament Friday afternoon at JCCC Gymnasium. 

With the victory the Lady Cavaliers advance to the championship game on Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. They will face the winner of Allen and Kansas City Kansas with a trip to the NJCAA Division II Tournament on the line.

Johnson Count built a five-point lead after the first period then proceeded to win each quarter to pull out the 25-point victory. 

Sophomore guard Jazzy Klinge led the way with her ninth double-double of the season, finishing with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Klinge drained 6-of-9 shots including a 3-pointer and connected on 9-of-10 free throws to post double figures scoring for the 18th time this year. She had posted double digits in rebounds 15 times.

Also finishing in double figures were freshman guard Taliyah Scott with 12 and freshman forward Amani Henry with 10, along with seven boards.

Sophomore guard Saige Grampsas, this week's KJCCC D-II Player of the Week, tallied nine points and freshman forward Micah Landry provided fie points, seven rebounds and three steals off the bench.

Jalasia Hull led the Scotties with 20 points, followed by Cameron McNamara with 10. Highland finishes the season 17-13.
