Prim named NJCAA D-II Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County guard Kierra Prim has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for February 14-20. 

The freshman from Overland Park, Kan., posted three double-doubles last week while leading the No. 2-ranked Lady Cavaliers to three double digit victories in the conference. She had 11 points and 12 rebounds in an 83-50 blowout over KCKCC. She followed with 15 points and 16 boards in a 12-point over Highland and capped the week with a career-high 30 points and 15 rebounds in an 94-65 road win over Neosho County. Prim now has 14 double-double games on the season and for the season she is averaging a double-double of 15.9 points and 10.3 rebounds.

For the season, Prim is averaging 15.8 points and 10.4 rebounds, which both lead the conference. She is also shooting 50.9 percent from the field, which ranks second. Prim has scored in double figures 24 times this year, has 17 games with 10+ rebounds and 15 double-doubles. Her 17 games with 10+ rebounds tie for seventh-most in a season at JCCC, and her 15 double-doubles tie for fourth in a season.
