Grampsas nabs second conference player of the week honor

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the second time this season, Johnson County sophomore guard Saige Grampsas has been selected as the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Women's Basketball Player of the week. She also was honored in week three. 

The week five award winner led the No. 2 ranked Lady Cavaiers to three victories last week, upping the team's overall record to 12-0, while extending the team's home court win streak to 61 straight.

Grampsas averaged 15.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from 3-point range. In all, she knocked down 13 3-point baskets over the three games played.

For the season, Grampsas has finished in double figures scoring in 11 of the 12 games, with two games over 20 points.  She is averaging team high 14.6 points which ranks her third in the conference. She also has already made 46 3-point baskets, 24 more than the second highest player in the conference, and the second most in the country. She is also averaging 4.0 assists per game which is the third best total in the conference and her total 48 assists are second most. 

Grampsas and her teammates will look to up their home court streak to 62 when they host Bethany College JV Tuesday night.  The Lady Cavaliers close out the 2023 portion of their season on December 9 at Moberly Area Community College.
