Grampsas named WBCA honorable mention All-American

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced its 2023-24 WBCA Two-Year College Coaches' All-America team and Johnson County Community College sophomore guard Saige Grampsas was an honorable mention selection. She is the 18th player in team history to be honored as a WBCA All-American, and the 15th player selected under head coach Ben Conrad. 

Earlier this season, Grampsas earned first-team Division II All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and All-Region 6/Plains District honors. In addition, she was named the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week three times during the 2022-23 season. 

Grampsas leads JCCC in scoring this season averaging 13.8 points per game. She also leads the conference and NJCAA Division II with 111 made 3-point baskets, which is also new season program record. She is making 43 percent of her 3-point attempts which also leads the conference, ranks third nationally and tied for seventh on JCCC's season chart. 

Earlier this season on sophomore night, Grampsas set a program record for most 3-point field goals in a game by hitting 13, leading the No. 1-ranked Lady Cavaliers to a 101-53 victory over Neosho County. The previous record of 12 was held by Amanda Dittmer against William Penn JV on February 8, 2009. 

Grampsas ended the night 13-for-19 beyond the arc, and 15-for-23 overall for 43 points, which ranks her tied fourth on JCCC's single game scoring chart. She is one of only five players in program history score 40 or more points in a game. 

Grampsas tied the game 3-point mark at 7:13 left in the game and she made her record 13th triple with 3:55 left on the clock to put JCCC up 97-47. 

Along with the record 13-3-point baskets, Grampsas set team records for made 3-pointers in a half and in a quarter. She hit 8-of-11 treys in the second half, with five coming in the third quarter.

Grampsas is also averaging 4.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.4 steals. She has scored in double figures a team-leading 24 times with four games over 20 points. 

For her career, Grampsas has made 147 triples, sixth-most all-time, and is connecting 41.1 percent of her attempts which would place her sixth on JCCC's career chart as well.
