Lady Cavaliers go 1-1 at John Wood Classic

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County women's basketball team's undefeated season came to an end as they fell to No. 5-ranked Lincoln Land Community College 69-54 Friday evening at the John Wood Classic in Quincey, Ill. The Lady Cavaliers rebounded with an 81-32 blowout over host John Wood Community College Saturday afternoon.  JCCC will look to improve to 13-1 on the season when they host Peru State College JV on Sunday at 5 p.m. 

In the loss to the Loggers, Johnson County shot just 28 percent as a team and their 54 total points is their lowest total of the year.  Lincoln Land shot 45 percent and outscored JCCC in three of the four quarters. 

Sophomore guard Krystal Rice led JCCC with 11 points, followed by freshman guard Gabby Fuller with 10. Sophomore guard Dallie Hoskinson was top rebounder with nine. 

Hannah Wallen led three Loggers in double figures with 22 points. Katryel Clark posted a double-double of 14 points and 13 boards. 

In the 49-point win over John Wood, five Lady Cavaliers were in double figures scoring, led by freshman forward Le'Yanna McGinnis with 15 points. She was 7-of-8 from the field with a free throw. She also grabbed five rebounds 

Hoskinson and freshman Jaylen Townsed followed with 11 points, and Rice and sophomore KK Jackson-Morris added 10 point each.  As a team, Johnson County improved to 44 percent accuracy from the field.
