OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore guard Christen Curry (Olathe Northwest HS/Olathe, Kan.) has signed a national letter-of-intent to continue her basketball career at Colorado Christian University coached by Corey Laster. Colorado Christian is a NCAA Division II program and a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

In her two seasons at Johnson County, Curry helped the Lady Cavaliers basketball program to a record of 55-10. This past campaign, Curry started in all 33 games and averaged 7.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Her 82 total assists were second on the team and in the Kansas Jayhawk D-II Conference. She shot 44.8 percent from the field (94-of-212) while scoring in double figures nine times, including a career-high 17 in a 97-67 win at Southwestern on Nov. 26.

For her career, Curry averaged 5.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 63 games.  Twice she earned JCCC student-athlete academic honors and in 2019 earned NJCAA first-team All-Academic honors with a 4.0 grade point average.  She recently was awarded the top academic female athlete of the year at JCCC for 2019-20.

"No one deserves this opportunity more than Christen," said JCCC head women's basketball coach Ben Conrad. "She's really been a model of consistency for two years here with her work ethic and attitude. CCU is getting a good one."
