
OVERLAND PARK, Kan – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) announced that Johnson County women's basketball player Jaylen Townsend has been named the Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 28.
The sophomore guard from Evansville, Ill, averaged 15.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists while leading the No. 2-ranked Lady Cavaliers to a three double digit victories last week. She also shot 43 percent from the field and from 3-point range and was perfect at the free throw line. For the season Townsend is averaging 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals.
Last season, Townsend became the first player in program history to be selected as the NJCAA D-II National Player of the Year. She was also selected first-team NJCAA D-II All-American, World Exposure Report second-team All-American, first-team All-Region 6/Plains District, first-team D-II All-KJCCC and was named the most valuable player of the conference.
