Second ranked Lady Cavaliers down Southern Maryland 95-45

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2 ranked Johnson County women's basketball team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 95-45 road victory over Community College of Southern Maryland, Saturday afternoon. 

Johnson County got off to a cool start and found themselves trailing 17-14 after the first quarter. It was all JCCC after that, as the Lady Cavaliers outscored Southern Maryland 54-14 in the second and third quarters to cruise to a 50-point victory.

Four starters finished in double figures led sophomore guard Saige Grampsas with 22 points. She made 8-of-11 shots including 6-of-9 from 3-point range. She also flirted with a triple-double finishing with nine rebounds and seven assists.

Sophomore forward Grace Lynch and freshman guard Taliyah Scott followed with 18 and 17 points, and sophomore guard Jazzy Klinge finished with 12 points.  Scott also had a team high eight assists and grabbed four boards. Klinge was credited with six rebounds and five assists.

Other key efforts were turned in by freshmen forwards Amani Henry and Micah Landry. Henry finished with nine points and seven rebounds, and Landry contributed six points, eight rebounds and a team high five steals. 

Johnson County returns to the hardwood Monday night when they host MidAmerica Nazarene University JV at 5:30 p.m.
