JCCC’s Jamya McPherson named KJCCC D-II Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College guard Jamya McPherson has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for week nine. She is the first JCCC player to be selected as a player of the week this season.

The freshman out St. Thomas Aquinas helped lead the No. 2-ranked Cavaliers to a pair of wins over top-20 ranked programs last week, while also helping the team extend its home court win streak to 81 straight victories.

McPherson averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists over the contests. In JCCC's 99-66 win over No. 20 Neosho County in both team conference opener, she hit 4-of-5 3-point baskets while going 6-for-9 from the field and made 5-of-6 free throw attempts for a game high 21 points. She also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.

For the season she is averaging 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists. She has scored in double figures six times and topped 20 or more points in three games. Her 10.8 per game average currently has her tied for 10th in the conference.
